POAA – Horniman – Artist Research
I looked at a variety of children’s illustrators for inspiration in terms of style and colour palette as the audience viewing my work would be families, often with young children. This motivated me to seek out colours and styles that would be attention grabbing and visually appealing to both children and adults, as I wanted to both entertain and inform the largest demographic possible. I took heavy inspiration from the works of both Lauren Child and Quentin Blake in terms of stylistic choice, making the animals more humanlike and simplistic, rather than realistic.
